MASTIPHAL To Record New Album
April 19, 2010MASTIPHAL, one of the most important Polish black metal bands of the '90s, will be the "special guest" at two Polish shows by the Norwegian black metal act MAYHEM. MASTIPHAL will perform for the first time in over a decade on May 26 in Warsaw (Proxima) and one day later in Krakow (Loch Ness).
MASTIPHAL will enter Maq studio on July 21 with engineer Jaroslawa Toiffl to begin recording its new album, tentatively titled "Parvzya", for a late 2010 release. The CD will be mixed and mastered in Sweden.
Commented MASTIPHAL singer Flauros: "It's an honor for us to have the possibility of sharing the stage with legendary MAYHEM, without a word, the most important black metal band on the planet.
"You can expect some new songs which will reflect current direction of the band. It's also the first chance to check the songs from upcoming album in live versions."
Added guitarist Cymeris: "Our reunion is a fact. We've been working for several months on new songs already. There is no talk about experiments — we're going to record the essence of black metal. We're returning to our roots, but we all should have in mind the fact that it's year 2010 and not the beginning of '90s."
A double-CD digipack from MASTIPHAL was made available on September 25, 2009 via Witching Hour Productions. Entitled "Damnatio Memoriae", the set contains the group's entire discography and, as a special bonus, footage of band performing live in 1994 as well as the remastered audio track from that concert.
